Still not a homeowner

June 16, 2009 at 5:01 pm (Piece #3 - The House) ()

Last I said anything about houses, my husband and I had just put in an offer on one.  We didn’t get that one… surprize!  We’ve looked at a few more since then, and put an offer in on another today.  Hopefully, this will be it.  If not, oh well.  The last one really did me in, I loved that house….  I don’t think I’m capable of getting excited about this anymore.

My Wedding Flowers.

June 16, 2009 at 3:22 pm (All the Bits) (, , )

My Mom preserved my wedding flowers for me.  She took them out of the preservative and now we have to figure out what to put them in.  I was thinking a shadow box, but I can’t find one big enough.  I could try to make one, but I don’t know if it’d be air-tight.  If anyone reads this, and has suggestions, please let me know.

Paper Piecing

June 16, 2009 at 3:13 pm (Piece #6 - Hobbies) (, )

I made my first attempt at paper piecing by hand for a scrapbook layout the other day.  I found a coloring book image of a butterfly, and used it for a template.  I was very happy with the results.  If I ever remember to try and figure out how to put pictures on here, I’ll be sure to post one.  My fingers were kind of cramped after working with the exacto knife for so long though!

Getting ACU

June 16, 2009 at 3:11 pm (Piece #6 - Hobbies) (, )

I’ve been scrapbooking a lot lately!  I’m very excited about it.  I found a forum that I like to hang out at  The ladies there are all really nice, and very helpful.  It also has a scrap store attached to it, though I haven’t been able to purchase anything from them yet.  I finished a lo of my neice the other day for a butterfly challenge.  I also signed up for the 2009 lo contest they have.  You have to make 50 los by the end of 2009 and then you’re entered to win a $100 gift certificate!  I could really use some new supplies, and this has been a great incentive to catch up on some of the pictures that have been sitting around waiting to be scrapped.

I guess I took a blog break…

June 16, 2009 at 3:07 pm (Piece #7 - Health and Fitness)

I’ve been a little scarce laterly. I think my UC flairing up threw my schedule off.  I wasn’t feeling well for a while, so I wasn’t eating right and couldn’t exercise.  House hunting was getting me down too.  I’m starting over from scratch today.  I’ll be sure to post my food and exercise log at the end of the day.  Hopefully, I’ll get myself back on track!

More on the Wedding Album

June 6, 2009 at 5:40 pm (Piece #6 - Hobbies) (, )

I still haven’t made the wedding invitation that I need, but I have finished the two-pager on my wedding party.  That makes 8 pages done!  It’ll get there, some day.  I think I’m going to work on the invitation today so that I can get that page squared away this weekend.

Cautiously Optimistic

June 6, 2009 at 5:37 pm (Piece #3 - The House) ()

We put in an offer of $190,000 with 5% towards closing.  It has some roof damage, so we wanted them to fix the roof too.  They came back with $193,000 with $9,500 towards closing no roof repairs.  We submitted $190,000 with $9,500 no roof repairs, and an addendum that says we can go in and fix the roof before closing.  Now we’re just waiting to see what they say.  As long as the addendum is accepted, we’re going to accept their counter.  As long as no one bids above us before they get back to us, should have a house soon!

More Houses…

June 3, 2009 at 1:55 pm (Piece #3 - The House) ()

Jason and I went to look at two houses yesterday after work.  They were townhouses.  The development they were in is surrounded by farmland, which I loved.  It makes me feel at home.  The first one we looked at was nice, it was huge and had a pretty open floor plan.  The kitchen seemed small though.  The second one was perfect.  It has a bay window, the floor plan is more open and the kitchen is bigger.  The master suite has a view of trees and fields (instead of the back of another townhouse).  The living room has that same view.  The only problem is that it seems to have lost a couple of shingles.  Neither of them had a deck, but they had the sliding glass doors set-up in the kitchen so that one could be added easily.  I love the feel of the neighborhood.  You could hear crickets, smell honey suckle, and see kids playing on their bikes.  It truly felt like home, so I’m hoping that this one works out.

My Wedding Album

June 3, 2009 at 1:51 pm (Piece #6 - Hobbies) (, , )

I’ve been so happy lately because I’ve finally found the time to work on scrapping my wedding album.  Over the weekend I added three new pages!  I know it’s not much, but they look very nice.  I’m proud of them.  Maybe, if I remember, I’ll scan a couple pages to put on here.  I discovered that I must have misplaced the wedding invitation I saved for myself, so I had to go measure my Grammer’s to get the right size to make myself a new one.  Hopefully I’ll have time to work on it this weekend too.  I really want to get it done before Jason and I have children, because then I’ll have their scrapbooks to make!  I still have plenty of time though, as we’ve decided not to start trying until I get a stay at home job, and we need to get a house before I can start looking for one.

6/1/2009 and 6/2/2009

June 3, 2009 at 1:43 pm (Piece #7 - Health and Fitness) (, , , , , )

Okay, so I’ve been bad at this lately.  I promise to be better from now on.  I haven’t been feeling well due to my Ulcerative Colitis so I haven’t been eating much lately anyway.

First day of feeling somewhat normal after a few days of yuck because of my colitis.  For breakfast I had a bowl of Special K Protein Plus with 2% milk.  Morning snack was a slice of watermelon.  Lunch was a half of a chicken salad sandwich and a peach.  Afternoon snack was a Fiber One Peach yogurt.  Dinner was spaghetti bolognase and a glass of Pepsi.  I had done fairly well with the calories, so I let myself have a Neapolitan Klondike Bar for dessert.

I went to the gym after work today.  I got on the “no arms” elliptical for 20 minutes and then did leg machines for 45 minutes.  There are six machines I use, and I do each at about 30 pounds (except the leg press, which I do at 65) for 3 reps of 12.

Today wasn’t very good.  I had Special K Protein Plus for breakfast.  Morning snack was a Kashi TLC soft baked strawberry bar.  They were having crab melts at work, so I got one of those for lunch.  Turns out, it was just crab dip spread on a tiny croissant.  That wasn’t enough, so I ate the half a chicken salad sandwich I had brought with me.  Afternoon snack was a pear and cottage cheese.  When I got home from work, I ate a 2 pack of butterscotch krimpets D:.  Dinner was a pork chop and Kraft macaroni and cheese (D: again) with a glass of Pepsi.

I didn’t make it to the gym today because my husband and I had a house to go look at after work.  I also wanted to paint my fingernails because my brother graduates tomorrow and I like them to look nice for special occasions.
